I’m a beginner or intermediate level English speaker. Can I take Nao Now classes?

Yes, we have lessons and topics for students of all ages. We have beginner classes that include phonics, pronunciation skills, basic vocabulary and sight words on topics such as Legos, Frozen, dinosaurs, and more.

Can adults take Nao Now classes too?

Yes, we have lessons and topics for students of all ages. Topics for adults include Lady Gaga, Times Square, 911, emotional intelligence, and business English.

What do I need to do to prepare for class?

Before class, students have the option to review vocabulary and reading passages for the lesson. Pre-lesson preparation is not mandatory.

What is the difference between a 25 minute and 50 minute class?

Our 25 minute lessons are less time consuming and less expensive. However, they provide the same quality of teaching instruction and learning as our 50 minute classes. The same time slots, lesson materials, and tutors are available for 25 and 50 minute lessons. We recommend 50 minute classes for students who want faster results and are able to focus for that time period.

How does Nao Now’s curriculum appeal to different types of learners?

Nao Now's curriculum taps into different ways of learning-- auditory, visual, verbal, and sensory. For example, our vocabulary videos show you new vocabulary words in a visual format as well as written format.

How do I determine my level?

Take our intake assessment to get started and determine your current English level. We will assess your fluency, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and reading skills.

What happens in class?

Classes are conducted on our special video platform on our dashboard with mentors. Mentors will guide you through our fun and interactive class material. Learn English through engaging cultural topics!

What learning materials do I get?

As a Nao Now student, you have access to class materials on our online learning platform that you may use at any time. You do not need to buy additional materials or textbooks. After class, you may complete vocabulary quizzes and review reading passages on your own to practice your new skills.

Are there different levels of difficulty?

Yes, we have six different levels of our English curriculum and three levels of our writing curriculum. We have lessons for beginner, intermediate, and advanced English language learners of all ages.

What classes does Nao Now offer?

Nao Now offers speaking (most popular!), writing intensive, personal projects, and adult English.

How is Nao Now different from other English programs or academies?

Will my trial Mentor be my permanent MENTOR?

You may request your trial mentor after purchasing lessons but there are no guarantees this will be your permanent mentor.

Will my Nao Now mentors always be the same?

You can create a consistent schedule with a mentor that you like who matches your availability and interests. Or you can have the opportunity to learn from different mentors throughout your subscription. Having mentors with different teaching styles, strengths, and tips will enhance your learning experience and provide you with a more well-rounded language education. We suggest the same mentor as consistency in language learning leads to better outcomes.

Can I choose my mentor?

At Nao Now, you can select your mentor for each class by logging into our Nao Now dashboard. View mentor profiles to learn more about their academic backgrounds and to see their availability before scheduling a lesson. We help students select mentors by matching students with mentors who have similar interests.

Why are Nao Now mentors native English speakers?

Learning from native speakers yields the best results in terms of pronunciation skills, relevant vocabulary, and cultural exchanges. Because you will be immersed in an online classroom that is conducted solely in English, the experience will be similar to what an American child experiences at school and results will occur faster.

Who are Nao Now's mentors?

We have three categories of mentors: full-time English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers, undergraduates and graduates from Ivy League universities, and graduates from top universities. These groups cater to a diverse range of learners with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and levels of English proficiency. Our mentors are native English speakers from the very best American universities. All of our mentors have gone through an extensive teacher training process. Their strong academic backgrounds give them the ability to teach on many different topics.

Learning Progress

How long does it take for students to advance to a new level?

Student progress depends on frequency of classes and effort. On average, it takes students approximately 6 months to advance one level, 12 months to advance two levels, and 18 months to advance three levels.

Will I improve in a group?

Yes! There are several benefits to learning in a group. You will not only learn from your mentor but also from your classmates. In group classes, you will have the opportunity to engage in interesting group discussions. Your mentor will ensure that all students have the chance to participate, answering questions and reading out loud. If you would like more personalized feedback and instruction, Nao Now also offers 1-on-1 classes.

Will I receive feedback after class?

Personalized feedback will be provided within 24 hours of class from your tutor. Coming soon: AI analysis that evaluates student speaking and writing progress.

Will my mentor correct my mistakes?

Making mistakes and receiving corrections is how we learn and improve. Our classes are small (private or small group) to ensure that students receive a significant amount of feedback from their mentor.

How long will it take to improve my English language skills?

Your progress depends on your effort and time commitment. Greater focus in class and reviewing materials on your own will result in better results. Your progress also depends on your schedule and how frequently you take class.

How do I get the most out of my class?

We recommend that you login to our video platform at least 5 minutes before the lesson to check your internet connection, video, and audio settings. Please be in a quiet setting. Previewing learning materials before the lesson is optional and can help some students feel more comfortable in class with their tutor. We strongly recommend completing the fun homework assignments which improve skills such as writing and public speaking and can help you apply what you have learned in class.

What if I miss a group class?

Unfortunately, group classes are at set pre scheduled times and dates. Therefore, please plan your schedule accordingly to ensure that classes are not missed. You will lose a lesson credit if you cannot attend class.

What if I miss a 1-on-1 class?

If you miss a class due to technical issues on Nao Now’s side, the lesson credit will be refunded. If, however, the lesson is missed due to problems on the student’s side, Nao Now is not able to refund the lesson credit and no exceptions will be made. When you schedule a lesson with Nao Now, you make a commitment to attend this lesson. We understand that emergencies or last minute conflicts may arise but if you are unable to make a lesson, please cancel the lesson more than 24 hours in advance.

Can I take classes on weekends?

Yes, you can schedule lessons on both weekdays and weekends. Please note that we only have Korean customer service reps available on weekdays to help with any scheduling or technical issues that may arise.

How do I reschedule or cancel a (regular/ trial) class?

At Nao Now, 1-on-1 (regular/ trial) classes can be rescheduled or cancelled more than 24 hours in advance without losing lesson credit. You can then rebook the lesson at a more convenient time. Please minimize changes as our mentors are extremely busy and we want to respect their time and schedules. For group classes, no changes or cancellations are allowed after the first group class begins. If you need to miss a class, you will lose the lesson credit.

What is a trial lesson?

A trial lesson is a great way to try out Nao Now for free before signing up and enrolling in a longer course. A trial is a free lesson that allows you to experience the different components of a typical Nao Now lesson.

Why do lessons have to be scheduled in advance?

We find that scheduling lessons in advance is helpful for both the mentor and the student. Booking lessons in advance allows for mentors to better prepare for the lesson, resulting in more effective learning for the student. As well, when students book lessons in advance this allows for students to create a routine and good learning habits. This also allows for the students to prepare for the lesson and complete the optional homework or prep work.

How do I schedule a 1-on-1 class with Nao Now?

Login to your Nao Now dashboard. Select your availability. Next, select your mentor. You can book a lesson up to 48 hours prior to the start time of the lesson. Lessons are provided throughout the year on both weekdays and weekends and you can create your own schedule.

Where and when can I take Nao Now classes?

Classes are online on our video platform on our dashboard. You can design your own schedule and take classes whenever and wherever works best for you as long as you have good internet connection.

Do I need to stick to a class schedule?

For 1-on-1 classes, you may schedule classes based on your availability and schedule. For example, one day you can take class at 7 pm and another day at 10 am. If you would like a regular schedule, you can do that as well. We would recommend creating a consistent schedule with your mentor.

How can I avoid technical difficulties during my lessons?

To avoid technical issues, please check your internet speed prior to your lesson and ensure you are in a location with good wifi connection. You can test out your audio and video quality prior to the lesson.

Why has my credit card been declined?

We’re sorry that your credit card has been declined and that you are having trouble paying for your plan. Please check that your card has not expired and that you have available funds to pay for the plan you wish to buy. Please also check that your card allows for international payments.

What happens if I want to give my subscription to someone else?

You will only be able to transfer your current subscription to an immediate family member such as your brother, sister, or parent.

What is the Nao Now refund policy?

Refunds are only given after your first lesson. After the first lesson, unfortunately, refunds are not possible. We will try our best to accommodate your needs and think of a better solution, rather than a refund. If you would like a refund, Nao Now will refund you right away but it may take your bank or your payment provider up to 7 business days to send the refund to you.

What are the differences between the packages?

We offer 4 types of packages: conversational English, private writing, personal projects, and Adult English. You can choose the duration for each of the lesson packages. 

How do Nao Now subscriptions work?

Nao Now subscriptions offer payment plans where you can pay for your lessons in advance, with the option of interest-free monthly installments. The frequency of installments depends on the package you choose.
